Despite a degree of moaning and groaning about the utter difficulty of the Course, I did appreciate that the standards were set so high

(Helen Ferguson, 2007, En, D, Fr)

The teachers were wonderful, and they never complained (at least not in front of the students!) of their own fatigue or of how boring it must be to have to listen all day to the anxious little students! I commend them for their professionalism and energy and enthusiasm. Thank you again...

(Ashley Nuñez, 2007, En, Es, Fr)

The best aspects of the CCIC? The new take on the profession, inspiration, desire to perform better and to nurture mind and soul by means of, and not just for the profession. I'd like to thank you for all you did for me/us during the Course.

(Roberta Prugnoli, 2007, It, Fr, En)

Oh dear, where to begin? Best aspects include the detailed feedback from our teacher colleagues who put in so much to make it a valuable experience for everyone, the friendly and stress-free atmosphere, the people I met (and those I saw again) and the motivation I've gained...

(Bianca Walther, 2007, D, En, Fr)

Thank you for everything you taught us and for making it so enjoyable. This has been the best investment I have made so far. I stay with a huge debt towards the entire team.

(Valeria Luna-Wille, 2006, SP, F, EN)

I never thought I’d learn so much from this class. It was an eye-opener and a true 'rebirth' for me as an interpreter.

(Francisco Resendiz, 2006, SP, EN)

This was a very precious experience. We have been shown just how high the standards are that we can aim for. The teachers have generously shared their experience with us…..There was none of the blasé attitude that so often characterises the profession. At the same time, teachers were tough, showing us the high standards that will be required from us.

(Hildo Bos, 2006, NL, EN, R, F)

There was so much to learn, and so little time...but every aspect of the course was clearly thought out and conducted with energy and maestria – a true tour de force! As for the teachers, benevolent in every sense of the word, their stellar talents were only matched by their seemingly endless generosity, patience and good humour…I cannot praise this course and those who have made it what it is highly enough… Many, many thanks for an unforgettable experience that is sure to be a turning point.

(Janet Heard-Carnot, 2006, EN, F)

I have definitely learned a lot both as a student and as a teacher of interpreting. It was a well-balanced course, with a lot of fun moments to brighten up the hard work, and memories and friendships to last.

Claudia Martin-Stern (I, EN, D, F, ES, 2005)

Be assured that I will talk about the Course to all the colleagues who have not done it; this course is a must in every interpreter's life.

Brigitte Hussar-Rault (D, F, EN, ES, 2005)

I was very impressed and moved by the teachers' drive to 'give something back' to the profession. A very sincere and heartfelt thank you!

Jean-Michel Arnaud (F, EN, 2005)

We feel truly privileged to have benefitted from the help of such wise and gifted people! We are exhausted but happy, and will never forget our two weeks in Cambridge. Thank you for your professionalism and kindness at all times!

Elisabeth Arnaud (F, EN, 2005)

I just wanted to thank you for a fantastic course. I learned so much and I was very impressed by the smooth running of it all. Absolutely brilliant!

Elke Hockings (D, EN, 2005)

Your CCIC is the best! The moral and physical torture was extremely desirable and super enjoyable! Thank you, dear teachers, for all your time, comments and help. I applaud your talents!

Elena Sheverdinova (R, EN, ES, UKR, 2005)

The opportunity to get straight, candid and unbiased feedback on a daily basis from some of the most accomplished interpreters now working in the European market is undoubtedly one of the course’s most salient features. It floored me to learn that the teachers were working without compensation.

Daniel Sherr (En, Es, Fr, 2004)

Please never stop offering this course. I had been looking for something like this for a long time. The best thing is the coming together of so many expert teachers and researchers in the area…
Thank you for all the efforts in putting together this great group of professionals. This is a very good course. Gracias.

Natalia Hopwood (Es, En, 2004)

Avec tous mes remerciements pour ce superbe stage de Cambridge! J’ai appris énormément de choses dans le cadre de cet enseignement de très haute qualité…Merci pour vos conseils, votre disponibilité, et votre gentillesse.

Marie Laurence Drillon (Fr, De, En, Gr, Hu, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004)

I think we all got a lot from the course, both as professionals and human beings.

Marianne Guenot-Hovnanian, OPCW (Fr, En, Es, 2004)

It was a great experience! I learned a lot and got many recommendations regarding my professional life. The group was very nice and the atmosphere harmonious. I liked very much talking to colleagues/teachers who don’t have my language combination. Now I know in which areas I have to concentrate and the teachers gave me specific advice how to do it.
Thank you very much for these great two weeks!

Catarina Duran Kremer (De, Pt, Fr, En, 2004)

On the whole a fantastic course. I learned a lot, people were very nice and friendly and it was good to have professional feedback after 10 years in the profession - even if it’s sometimes difficult to cope with such critique! Very useful comments and tips.

Bernd Saure, German Ministry of Defence (De, Fr, En, 2004)

The CCIC has been the most enlightening training course for professional interpreters I have ever taken.
Unlike many continuous education programs, CCIC did live to my expectations to the point that I consider it worth every penny (and that's more than just a few!)

Mariana Rimoldi (Es, En, Fr, 2003)

[The] CCIC was...a very useful and a very interesting course, a fantastic constellation of teachers and a beautiful, really unforgettable setting. For me the two weeks in Cambridge have been "a moveable feast" I wish to experience again. The course is structured in a manner to make every minute ...really useful for a practising interpreter: you learn so many new things about different strategies of interpreting, about getting to know your speaker, about working with the text, about practising, about things you simply need to know to be a good interpreter. And what is very important, you not simply practise in the booth, but get constructive and very much to-the-point feedback from the course directors (a wonderful team!), often critical (positively critical) that helps you to look at your performance from an entirely different angle and improve it. I am so thankful to the team that has put together the Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course!

Mara Tsakadze (Ru/Ge, En, Sp, 2003)

Merci à toute l’équipe qui s’est privée de deux semaines de vacances pour nous aider à améliorer nos compétences. C’est un grand sacrifice et nous en sommes bien conscients et très reconnaissants !

Nelly Turrini (Fr, En, Ru, 2002)

I have learnt two important things during this course: modesty and pride.

Pilar Gil-Jimenez (Es, Fr, En, 2002)

I loved the course, had a significant effect. I have benefited a lot and surely will much more with the passing of time.

Sonia Abuin (Es, En, 2002)

The best money I’ve ever spent!

Pierre Lanotte (Fr, En, Ru, 1996, 2000)

Roberta Prugnoli,
(2007, It, Fr, En)
I learnt a lot from everyone, I owe everyone. I was given the chance to look at myself in a mirror and see the picture from a different perspective without feeling judged. I was given hope for a better future at work, for greater commitment on my side as to how to perform better and deliver more. I was given the tools to work with and build upon in order to acquire more self-confidence and more humility at the same time. You taught me so much: I admire you for what you do and how you do it.
Marija Maras:
(S-C, D, EN,2006)
I loved the way feedback was presented and the way teachers shared their experience and their views with us. That is something that you cannot get anywhere else….I should have come here 10 years ago.
Gala Connell:
(R, EN, 2005)
This course was a great experience. It was hard work, but great fun. The course has been an intensely positive experience and has made me a better interpreter.

Thank you so much for this great experience. At certain moments, it has been painfully tough, but extremely rewarding.
Tanya Gesse

I would classify Cambridge as "simultaneous interpreting boot camp.” In my 2-week class, there were tears, arguments, and invaluable feedback from world class professionals. Not for the faint of heart, but the training you get is very real and unforgettable. You are in the same room with the world's top interpreters, interpreting real international-level speeches, in real conference conditions (for example, the speaker beginning to speak in a language you did not expect, a speaker not reading the speech you expected, a speaker speaking with a foreign accent, taking less than perfect relay, etc.). I would highly recommend it to any serious conference interpreter.
